MANILA – College of St. Benilde returned from a two-week layoff to take down the Arellano Chiefs, 82-77, and remain undefeated in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball tournament on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Blazers last played on July 30 when they defeated San Sebastian, and saw their next three playdates washed out by inclement weather and class suspensions.
They had to shake off a slow start and withstand a furious last minute rally by the Chiefs, to improve their record to 5-0 and tie defending champion San Beda at the top of the league standings.
Clement Leutcheu had 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, while Justin Gutang played his first game since suffering a knee injury to put up 12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
